Start the New Year with a New Green Resolution

Hi everyone! I’m back after a long hiatus with renewed energy and inspiration. In 2016, my organic garden yielded plenty of fresh greens and vegetables. I managed to collect lots of brinjals, tomatoes, radish, lady’s fingers, bitter gourd and snake gourd among others. Fresh spinach, drumstick leaves, red and green greens was also abundant. As for my flower collection, I only managed some roses, hibiscus, jasmine, and zinnias.

While 2016 was for the most part good, I’ve also had to contend with lots of pests. Mealy bugs gave my plants a tough time and I lost some cucumber plants to the red beetle. Cyclone Vardah for its part broke some of my pots, snapped my tomato plants and destroyed my climbers. Not to mention it totally ruined my just established dahlia plants.

However, Hope Springs Eternal. With the rains finally gone, and the cold weather thawing, the rest of my plants are starting to come to life now. The dawn of the new year has invigorated me once again. I’m excited to start 2017 afresh and harvest more vegetables and establish a beautiful flower garden this time.

Green Resolution for 2017

My New Year 2017 resolution is to establish a gorgeous rose garden. I currently have a pink Edward rose plant, 2 varieties of red roses, a couple of yellow rose plants, a bright orange button rose and a white rose plant. However, my roses don’t look very healthy. That’s going to change this year and I’m going to make a concerted effort to grow beautiful healthy roses this year.

That’s my plans for the year. Do you have anything planned for the new year? If you haven’t yet come up with a good garden plan, spend a few hours to come up with a good garden theme.

I’d love to hear what ideas you plan to incorporate in your garden this year. So feel free to share them with me in the comments section.

Meanwhile, here are some snapshots of the plants on my terrace.

    Hi,
Where do you get perfumed Edward rose plants from? How much does a plant cost?
    Thank you.
